I DO NOT GENERALIZE

INT. LOCAL BAR.

JOHN and LARRY are sitting in a bar.

JOHN
You’re racist.

LARRY
No. I’m not.

JOHN
Yes you are.

LARRY
I am not.

JOHN
Let me give you an example. What do you think of Asian people?

LARRY
I think they are fine.

JOHN
Racist.

LARRY
How is that racist?

JOHN
How isn’t it?

LARRY
In every way it’s not racist.

JOHN
In every way it is racist. Racist.

LARRY
What is racist about saying Asian people are fine? They are.

JOHN
They? You made an overall generalization about a diverse group of people based on an extremely limited sample and made a judgment on people you have never met. That’s racist.

LARRY
But I’m being nice. I’m saying Asian people are fine.

JOHN
But not all of them are. Them are some awesome Asian people and some total jerks. But you say they are all fine. That’s unfair to the jerks.

LARRY
You’re worried about jerks?

JOHN
Jerks are people too Larry. Jerks are people too.

LARRY
I guess I am racist.

JOHN
Oh yeah. I don’t think we can be friends any more.

LARRY
That’s probably best.
